Fried Turkeys Across America

[As of November 16, 2000 this page is under construction and nearly complete]

Most of us have a dim recollection of an event in the early 1980's known as "Hands Across America"  The idea was to create a human chain from coast to coast in order to promote some cause that I don't remember and probably didn't care about at the time.

The effort wasn't successful, due to numerous large gaps in the human chain.  I believe that the failure was primarily the fault of Kansas.  My take on the matter was that a more interesting and better event would have been "Hands to the Moon," but lousy practical considerations proved that idea impossible.

What we really need in this country, as our nation is splintered by the contentious 2000 presidential election, is something to UNIFY all Americans.  The solution is simple: we need only look for something we all have in common and build a bond of love among all of us.  I have just such a unifying force in mind:  The Fried Turkey.  Let us not forget that Benjamin Franklin proposed that the wild turkey should be the national bird.  Unfortunately, he lost out and the bald eagle is our national bird.  So, turkeys it is.  Join together one and all and participate in . . . . .  Fried Turkeys Across America.

The goal is to collect here, on these very pages, pictures of turkey-frying antics from every state in the union.  I can't do it without your input, so send in your pictures by email.  Be a part of the revolution.  Please send pictures!
